Opening Hours: The Library is open between 8.50 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. each school day.
During the lunch break, it closes at 1.00 pm and reopens at 1.30 pm.
Year 7, 8, 9 & 10 students come to the Library with their English teachers at a scheduled class time. Other subject teachers book Library time through a web based booking sheet.
Issuing: Students bring the books they wish to issue to the Library Issue Desk where the books are scanned. Students may take 5 books at a time, although in some instances, with permission of Librarian more books may be taken.
Books are issued for a period of three weeks and returns are put into slot in Issue Desk or if Library closed there is a return slot in front door of Library.
Magazines: Magazines are for use in Library only but in some circumstances may be taken home.
Blue Slips : During class time, students must have a "blue slip" from their teacher to use the Library. Year 13 students may use the Library unsupervised during study periods, but are reminded that the Library is for study and not for social gatherings.
Yellow slips: Teachers fill in yellow slips to send students to library to use computers in lunchtimes or intervals. Students are not permitted to use computers for games or without permission slips - priority is given to students completing school work.
Computers : The school has now 10 computers situated in the Non-Fiction side of the Library and an OPAC (Online Public Access Computer) for students to search the library catalogue. All computers are connected to a printer, which is situated by the Issue Desk. Internet is also available to students.
Information File : Newspaper and magazine articles which deal with current and high interest subjects are held in filing cabinet next to Arts section in alphabetical order of subject. Information Files may be taken out but it is preferable to have it photocopied.
Photocopier : The photocopier is available to all students at no cost.
The Librarian is available at all times to help you locate and use all Library resources and facilities. If you can't find what you are looking for, or are unsure how to operate any of the technology. PLEASE ASK!
